New Topic Architecture FAQ (Beta)

Do I have to switch to the new topic architecture?

During the beta phase, you decide whether to use the new topic architecture or the previous topics view. Your choice only applies to your own user account.

If you are new to Scompler, we recommend starting with the new topic architecture right away, since it will replace the previous view.

Why doesn’t a counter match the number of visible rows?

Counters only include an object’s primary assignment. If supporting (secondarily linked) objects are shown, you may see more rows than the counter shows.

Can I search within the topic architecture?

The topic architecture doesn’t have its own search yet. To find a specific object, use the global search or narrow down the topic architecture with filters.

A search within the topic architecture will be added during the beta.

How can I recreate the previous topic subpages (All Topics, Categories, All Stories, and By Story Status)?

The new topic architecture combines the previous subpages into one view. To see the same content, choose the matching starting level:

  • All Topics page: Choose the starting level Category
  • Category page: Choose the starting level Topic and filter by Category
  • All Stories page: Choose the starting level Story
  • By Story Status page: Choose the starting level Story Status

What happens to my saved views?

Your saved views were moved over. Because the previous pages are now one view, all your views are in a single list. Each moved view starts with the name of its original page, e.g. All Topics > Topic Plan 2026, and favorites still work. Filters by custom fields are not supported yet. If a view used such a filter, everything else in the view was moved over.

Filters by custom fields will be added during the beta.

Views you create or change in the previous topic architecture don’t appear in the new one. Before the previous version is switched off, we sync them once, so nothing gets lost.
