Accessibility in Social Media Posts

Accessibility is crucial to enable the hearing and visually impaired to use your content on social media without restrictions.

Scompler offers several options to help you easily add accessible text to your social media articles.

Facebook

On Facebook, you can assign an alt text to an image. To do this, upload an image to your Facebook post in the "Media" tab, hover over the image until a speech bubble icon with a "T" appears. Click on this to enter your alt text in the new window.EN_01_ALT-Text_GIF

For videos, you can add subtitles by uploading a video to the "Media" tab, hovering over the video and clicking on the symbol with two "C"s. Then, go to “Select file”, choose your desired files in SRT format and assign a language to each file. Then save. To remove the files, click on the trash can icon on the right.EN_02_Untertitel_GIF

Supported country codes can be found here. SRT files up to a size of 200 KB are currently supported.

X (Twitter)

Proceed in the same way as for alt texts and subtitles for Facebook posts. Please note that X (Twitter) only supports one subtitle language at a time. Currently, SRT files up to 200 KB in size are supported.

LinkedIn

Here you proceed in the same way as with alt texts and subtitles for Facebook posts. However, note that LinkedIn only supports one subtitle language at a time and that a line may contain a maximum of 47 characters. A maximum of 3 lines can be displayed at once and the characters must comply with UTF-8 encoding. Currently, SRT files up to a size of 200 KB are supported. Further information can be found here.

YouTube

YouTube offers you the option of adding subtitles to your videos. The process is the same as described above for videos for Facebook. The characters must comply with UTF-8 encoding. Currently, SRT files up to 200 KB in size are supported.

NOTE: If you integrated your YouTube channel before 30 August 2024, it must be integrated again before you can add subtitles to your YouTube video. You can find out how to do this here.
