Accessibility in Social Media Posts
Accessibility is crucial to enable the hearing and visually impaired to use your content on social media without restrictions.
Scompler offers several options to make your social media posts accessible. Depending on the network, you can add accessibility information such as ALT text or subtitles during the content creation in Scompler.
The following channels offer accessibility features:
- Facebook: ALT text for images, subtitles for videos
- Instagram: ALT text for images
- LinkedIn: ALT text for images, subtitles for videos
- YouTube: ALT text for images, subtitles for videos
- X (Twitter): subtitles for videos
Add ALT Text to Images
Adding ALT text to your images works in the same way for all supported channels.

Open the article you want to add ALT text to.

Navigate to the Article tab.

If you have not yet added an image, upload or select one under Post Type > Media.

Move your cursor over the image and click the ALT text icon.
The dialog to add ALT text opens. -
Under ALT text, enter a description of the image content.

Click Save.
You have added ALT text to the image. When moving your cursor over the image, the ALT text icon is now colored pink.
Add Subtitles to Videos
Adding subtitles to your videos works in the same way for all supported channels.
Limitations:

The maximum file size for SRT files is 200MB.

X (Twitter) supports only one subtitle language per video.
- LinkedIn supports only one subtitle language per video. Subtitle lines may contain a maximum of 47 characters, with up to three lines displayed simultaneously. UTF-8 encoding is required.

YouTube subtitle files must use UTF-8 encoding. For channels connected before August 30, 2024, you must reconnect the channel first.

Open the article you want to add a subtitle to.

Navigate to the Article tab.

If you have not yet added a video, upload or select one under Post Type > Media.

Move your cursor over the video and click the subtitle icon.
The dialog to add SRT files opens. -
Click Choose file and upload a new or select a SRT file from file storage or the attachments.
- From the Language dropdown menu, select the subtitle language.
- Click Save.
You have added a SRT file to the video that works as a subtitle. When moving your cursor over the video, the subtitle icon is now colored pink.
