      Allowed image and video formats for publishing social media posts in Scompler

      This guide gives you an overview of the requirements for publishing social media posts on each channel.

      Each social media channel has specific requirements for posting images, videos or links. Below you will find the requirements that your posts in Scompler must meet for each channel. This will help you create posts easily and reliably.

       

      IMPORTANT: For publishing, Scompler accesses the respective interface of the channel.

      The requirements and permissible formats that the channels allow via these interfaces sometimes differ significantly from the procedures when publishing directly on the platform.

      The requirements for successful publishing from within Scompler are set by the channel itself. Scompler cannot change this.

      Some networks offer different interfaces, so other tools with a different advertising budget or longer business relationships may have different restrictions.

      We regularly review the options provided to us to expand our offering as network specifications change.

       

      These are the allowed formats for each channel:

      Facebook

      Post types:

      • Images: jpeg, png, tiff, gif
        Maximum file size: 4MB
         
      • Videos: avi, mp4, mpeg, quicktime, vnd.avi, x-ms-asf, x-ms-wmv, x-msvideo 
        Maximum file size: 1GB 
        Thumbnail: jpeg, jpg, png with a maximum size of 1Mb
         
      • Links & Carousel: You can change the thumbnail, title and description if you confirm the domain ownership of the link to change its metadata.
        • Permitted formats for the thumbnail are jpeg, jpg, png with a maximum size of 8 Mb 
        • Maximum 5000 characters.
        • The minimum permitted image size is 200 x 200 pixels.
        • Use images with at least 1200 x 630 pixels for the best display on high-resolution devices.
        • You should use images with at least 600 x 315 pixels to display link postings with larger images.
        • If the image is less than 600 x 315 pixels, it will still be displayed in the link postings, albeit much smaller.
        • Try to maintain an aspect ratio of 1.91:1 to avoid a cropped image.

      X (Twitter)

      Post types:
       

      • Images: Formats: jpeg, png, webp
        Maximum file size: 5MB
         
      • Animated GIF: gif
        Maximum file size: 15MB
         
      • Videos: mp4
        Maximum file size: 512MB
         

      Linkedin

      Post types:
       

      • Images: jpeg, png, tiff, webp, gif
        Maximum file size: 36MB
         
      • Videos: mp4, mpeg, quicktime, x-ms-asf, x-ms-wmv
        Maximum file size: 200MB
        • Thumbnail: jpg, webp or png. Maximum file size: 7MB
      • Links: You can change the thumbnail (jpeg, jpg, png with the maximum size of 1Mb), title and description (Maximum 1300 characters).

      • Documents: Document upload in the formats pdf, docx, pptx, doc and ppt up to a maximum of 100MB and 300 pages is possible.

      Instagram

      Post types:
       

      • Images/Carousels: JPEG, maximum file size: 8MB
        • Aspect ratio: from 4:5 to 1.91:1
        • Minimum width: 320 (will be scaled up to the minimum if necessary)
        • Maximum width: 1440 (will be scaled down to the maximum if necessary)
        • Height: Varies, depending on width and aspect ratio
        • Carousels: All carousel images are cropped based on the first image in the carousel, with a default aspect ratio of 1:1

      • Videos: MOV or MP4 (MPEG-4 Part 14), no cut lists, Moov atom at the beginning of the file. 
        • Audio codec: AAC, sampling rate maximum 48khz, 1 or 2 channels (mono or stereo).
        • Video codec: HEVC or H264, progressive scan, closed GOP, 4:2:0 chroma subsampling.
        • Frame rate: 23-60 FPS.
        • Frame size: maximum columns (horizontal pixels): 1920Minimum
          aspect ratio [columns / rows]: 4 / 5Maximum
          aspect ratio [columns / rows]: 16 / 9
        • Video bitrate: VBR, maximum 5Mbps
        • Audio bitrate: 128kbps
        • Duration: 60 seconds maximum, 3 seconds minimum
        • File size: 100MB maximum

      • Reels - Cover Picture:
        • Format: JPEG
        • File size: 8MB maximum
        • Color Space: sRGB. Images that use other color spaces will be converted to sRGB.
        • Aspect ratio: We recommend 9:16 to avoid cropping or blank space. If the aspect ratio of the original image is not 9:16, we crop the image and use the middle most 9:16 rectangle as the cover photo for the Reel. If you share a Reel to your feed, we crop the image and use the middle most 1:1 square as the cover photo for your feed post.
      • Reels: 
        • Container: MOV or MP4 (MPEG-4 Part 14), no edit lists, moov atom at the front of the file.
        • Audio codec: AAC, 48khz sample rate maximum, 1 or 2 channels (mono or stereo).
        • Video codec: HEVC or H264, progressive scan, closed GOP, 4:2:0 chroma subsampling.
        • Frame rate: 23-60 FPS.
        • Picture size:
          • Maximum columns (horizontal pixels): 1920
          • Required aspect ratio is between 0.01:1 and 10:1 but we recommend 9:16 to avoid cropping or blank space
        • Video bitrate: VBR, 25Mbps maximum
        • Audio bitrate: 128kbps
        • Duration: 15 mins maximum, 3 seconds minimum
        • File size: 1 GB maximum
      • Carousel videos:
        • Container: MOV or MP4 (MPEG-4 Part 14), no edit lists, moov atom at the front of the file.
        • Audio codec: AAC, 48khz sample rate maximum, 1 or 2 channels (mono or stereo).
        • Video codec: HEVC or H264, progressive scan, closed GOP, 4:2:0 chroma subsampling.
        • Frame rate: 23-60 FPS.
        • Picture size:
          Maximum columns (horizontal pixels): 1920 px

        • File size: 100MB maximum
      • Story:
        • Videos:
          • Formats: MOV or MP4 (MPEG-4 Part 14).
          • Duration: 60 seconds maximum, 3 seconds minimum
          • File size: 100MB maximum
          • Audio codec: AAC, 48khz sample rate maximum, 1 or 2 channels (mono or stereo).
          • Video codec: HEVC or H264.
          • Frame rate: 23-60 FPS.
          • Maximum columns (horizontal pixels): 1920
          • Required aspect ratio is between 0.1:1 and 10:1 but we recommend 9:16 to avoid cropping or blank space
          • Video bitrate: VBR, 25Mbps maximum
          • Audio bitrate: 128kbps
        • Images: JPEG
          • File size: 8 MB maximum.
          • Aspect ratio: We recommend 9:16 to avoid cropping or blank space.
          • Color Space: sRGB. Images using other color spaces will have their color spaces converted to sRGB.

      Note:

      • Postings are only permitted for business accounts.
      • An Instagram account must be linked to a FB page.
      • No more than 25 posts per day per account.
      • Maximum 2200 characters, 30 hashtags and 20 @ tags.

      YouTube


      You can post videos to your YouTube channel from within Scompler if your channel is free of active warnings for a community policy violation and you verify your phone number with YouTube.

      • Video: avi, mp4, mpeg, mkv, wmv,mov up to 2 GB

        • Thumbnail: gif/jpeg/png/tiff/webp/bmp up to 36 MB

      TikTok

      • Videos:
        • Formats: MP4, WebM or MOV
        • Codecs: H264, H265, VP8 or VP9
        • Frame rate: 23-60 FPS
        • Video dimensions: 360-4096 pixels in height and width
        • Duration: up to 10 minutes
        • File size: up to 2 GB
