Overview of Divisions

Divisions let you split your Scompler project, e.g. by business unit, region, or location. Each user then mainly sees the categories, content types, teams, and users that are relevant to their divisions.

Divisions are especially useful for large projects where several teams or units share one project but work largely independently. You choose which divisions you see in the division selector.

Divisions are a view filter, not an access restriction. Assigning someone to a division doesn’t grant or remove any permissions, and users without the division permission see all content. For confidential content, use the regular access rights.

Your division selection mainly affects the topic architecture. In other areas of Scompler, it only narrows down some selection options, has a partial effect, or has no effect at all. Learn where and how your division selection takes effect.

If needed, you can adapt the term “division” to your organization.

With divisions, you can:

  • assign categories, content types, teams, and users to one or more divisions
  • limit the topic architecture to the content of your divisions
  • limit the selection lists in filters and in assignee and team selections to your divisions, across all modules
  • switch between one, several, or all divisions with a single click

See the categories, content types, and users of your divisions instead of everything in your project.

Control your division selection in one place: the division selector.

Objects and users can belong to several divisions. Team members automatically belong to their team’s divisions.
